Well do you still have the jug it came in? If so, recycle it - as it might end up in HP's Hot Plug Hard Drive packaging.
This packaging system utilizes the patented GeoSpringR end caps. When a product protected by this system is dropped from a height, the impact engages the spring system and efficiently dissipates the shock and vibration.
The system can be adapted to meet a wide range of shock/vibration dissipation requirements without using large amounts of material.
HP was unsatisfied with the cost and performance of fabricated urethane foam with corrugated paper inserts for packaging.
They eliminated the need for this bulky foam material by developing a thermoform plastic cushion. This new design concept proposed several important advantages over HP's former packaging methods:
- Reduced inbound material transportation and storage by 3 truckloads a month
- Plastic cushion was created with 80% recycled material and can be easily recycled again
- Packaging design saves over a million dollars a year in material and transportation / warehousing costs
